In loving memory of my dad.
Losing a loved one always sends your life into a spiral of change. My dad struggled with depressions for most of his life, and in the end, the dark forces consumed him and took him to a place beyond our reach.

After his death, my family and I have dealt with shock and grief, and there have been days when I have felt like I was under a massive Dementor attack. For those of you who know Harry Potter, you will know what I mean. I have had to use all my strength and loved ones to conjure Patronus Charms strong enough to get through those days. And still it is hard for me to believe that there was a power so strong that the love my dad felt couldn’t keep him with us.

The thought of battling the hard days with Patronus Charms has helped me cope with my Dementors. It is my wish that everyone, no matter what demons they are up against, can learn to produce their own Patronuses: focus on your happiest memories, your loved ones, the friends you have who will stand in the fire with you and be there when all else fails. This is my hope for myself, my family, and especially my daughter. When I think of her, I know that love makes everything possible. And I hope to be able to give her tools to survive whatever comes her way and never give up.
